This page explains how the Epik Wire provider directory is built, what is free, what is paid, and how listings are ordered. We publish it because a directory that carries advertising should be transparent about where the money sits.
Where the information comes from
Listings are compiled from public registers published by Australian government agencies. Every directory page states which register the data came from and the date that register was published. We refresh against the source periodically and update the date shown when we do.
These registers are point-in-time records. A provider may have changed, merged, ceased trading or altered its registration since the register was compiled. We say what the source is and when it was current so you can judge for yourself, rather than implying our data is live when it is not.
Inclusion is free
Every provider found in the source register is listed, at no charge, whether or not they have any commercial relationship with us. Providers do not apply, do not pay, and cannot buy their way into the directory. They also cannot buy their way out of a competitor being listed alongside them.
A free listing shows the provider name, suburb, operating organisation, services offered and service areas.
What paid placement buys
Providers can pay for a featured listing or a regional sponsor position. That buys prominence and presentation, nothing else:
- Position above the standard alphabetical list
- A logo, a longer description and a profile page
- A direct, tracked link to the provider website
Paid placements are labelled wherever they appear. Where we have given a provider a complimentary featured placement during our launch period, the label says so, because describing an unpaid placement as a paid one would be untrue.
How listings are ordered
The order on every region page is fixed and applied by the software, not chosen by hand:
- Regional sponsor, if one exists for that region
- Featured listings, alphabetically among themselves
- All remaining providers, alphabetically
Within the standard list, order is strictly alphabetical. It is not influenced by payment, by clicks, by how recently a provider was added, or by any assessment of quality.
What the directory is not
It is not a recommendation service, a comparison service, an accreditation scheme or a referral agency. We do not assess quality of care, we do not rank providers against each other, and we do not receive commission or referral fees for connecting anyone with a provider.

Advertising never affects coverage
A provider paying for a listing receives no consideration in our journalism. If an advertiser is sanctioned by a regulator, loses registration or is the subject of a matter we would ordinarily report, we report it. If we could not commit to that, the directory would not be worth publishing.
Corrections and removal
If your details are wrong, or you would rather not be listed at all, contact us and we will correct or remove the listing within two business days. There is no cost and no conditions attached.
Readers who believe a listing is inaccurate or misleading can contact us the same way.
